I posted about my entries in this year’s Linden Postcard Show a while ago. I found these photos of my pieces from 2006’s show. Both of these sold *awesome*

‘Like a Virgin’ by me!

Photobucket
‘Mary had a little Lamb.’

Just to clarify, I chose to embroider images like these, not meaning any disrespect, but because I really love religious icons. They’re just so soft, beautiful and soothing. The choice in fabric was in order to create a contrast with the traditional image and method.

Obviously the blue Mary was much more attractive before I made her look like a stone carved wrestler with freaky hands. But that was a result of developing skills (or lack thereof) rather than any intention of malice.

If I had to do them again, I would do them differently. The embroideries I did for this year’s show taught me heaps, and I suspect that this stumbling-in-the-dark-style learning experience is far from over.

LOVE THESE. The fabrics remind me of flannel pajamas, and I really like the graphic,color-blocked effect you got with the embroidery. Great job!
